Self
Self-centeredness is a cage, a prison in fact that enslaves the soul in its solitary confinement. It is an island with few bridges that allow one to pass the commodities of love into the lives of others. It is a house with so many locked doors it keeps the love and the loving from entering in. It is the darkness which remains, in spite of the brilliant light of love being all around. It is the unquenchable thirst of sadness and gloom that cannot be relieved by any elixir one can concoct, imbibe or imagine. For there is but one remedy for self, and that is surrendering self to God.
